Here is an un-retouched photo taken at home. I was anxious about showing myself at this age but I want to be transparent with this new Health and Beauty section and all the things I plan to share. I have so much I want to post here, I didn’t know where to start. So I will start with this morning. Here’s my typical morning routine:
- We all wake up a bit dehydrated so I drink a few sips of water, not cold but lukewarm water, which feels kinder to the body. I then use a moisturizing lip balm (no Chapstick), and spray my face with a facial spray. It provides a little moisture until I wash my face.
- Still in my pajamas, I follow that with a big cup of green tea while I check my emails & comments, here and on YouTube, and answer what I can.
- After that, I wash my face and put on a serum followed by moisturizer.
- While it sets, I get dressed, put on my walking shoes and put on sunscreen. Sunny or overcast, I always wear sunscreen.
- Wearing a wide-brimmed hat, long sleeves, and carrying water, I head out for a brisk 10-12 minute walk. Some of it is uphill (I hate that part!) so when I come down that slope, I do a light jog because stressing the bones helps with bone density. (It’s easier to do that going downhill). It’s not really jogging it’s just pounding the pavement to create a weight-bearing effect.
- Back home and cooled down, I’m ready for breakfast.
- My typical breakfast includes a hard boiled egg, a slice of my whole wheat bread, a cup of black tea, and 1/2 slice of apple bread for dessert. π
- Now I’m ready for another, always full, day.
I hope this little start is helpful. I plan to post more on what we eat and drink, or never eat or drink, what about snacks, what’s in my fridge and freezer, specific exercises, supplements (you might be surprised), my skincare routine, and much more. I can’t wait to share more and hope it’s helpful. Experts believe that up to 80% of chronic diseases like heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes are preventable with a healthy lifestyle and some cancers as well. I believe that.
I make pretty much everything we eat from scratch at home and I can tell you that we never ever get colds or the flu. Not in decades! My grateful husband is a beneficiary of my healthy cooking and the standards I maintain in the kitchen. He loves me for it and shows it with his pet name for me…. “Warden.” π

Jenny, so great to see a photo of you and how fantastic and healthy you look! I used to watch you on television and later became a fan of your recipe videos. I hope you will continue to share your recipe talents and keep us updated on your life. BTW, I made your simple white bread this morning to go with some Thanksgiving leftover turkey. I laughed out loud when you demonstrated how to warm an egg against your chest only to act surprised by a marriage announcement and end up smashing it, lol! Thank you for the refreshing humor and years of enjoyable videos.
Your lemon brownies popped up in my feed as I made them years ago. So delicious. I was curious to see if your channel was still active, and you are on fire. This will be a regular stop for me again.
Jenny, you are beautiful and do not look like you are 79!!! I love your recipes!! π©·π©·
You look amazing!
Now THAT is what a lifetime of healthy, nutritious living looks like! Wow! Your skin, hair, and figure are amazing. Having no processed foods or junk allowed your body’s organs to work optimally. Some ideas for this section…has your exercise routine changed over the years? And, maybe too personal, but how did you make it through menopause without aging or gaining weight? More details on your skin care please. You had a facial video long ago. Can you share it again? Or make another one?
The old facial video is no longer available but I will post what I can as soon as I can. I’m working on my skincare notes.
Hi Jenny
I’m learning a lot from your page, especially when it comes to making bread. It’s very cold here in NC today, and I’m making your easy bread recipe. I’ve made it once already on a warmer day and it came out perfect. Today, the dough is struggling to rise, and I’m learning because of the cooler temps. I tried some of the suggestions in the FAQ section, and now I’m hopeful the bread will still come out well. TY for sharing your recipes.
Been home post partum and have been making a lot of your baked goods! You still look fabulous! Thank you sharing
I found the Apple bread – l did not search with the word βeasyβ first!!
I meant to mention in my βproteinβ question that l usually have your oatmeal with oat bran but l often get hungry a couple hours later – add greek yogurt? Also – l thought you had an apple bread recipe but when l went to make it just now l cannot find it β¦ thanks! Greg
Dear Warden, (I mean Jenny,)
I am so happy to see you posting. Love the recipes, attitude, and humor. You look great, and you are such an inspiration.
This made my night seeing the post!
By the way – when you post your βwhat l made this weekβ – do you and your husband actually eat all that food in one week or how does that work? Also – hoping to get your thoughts on all this talk about getting enough protein- especially as we age. I am careful with my heart health so eggs get a little confusing- thoughts? Thanks so much!!
When I cook larger meals, we either have leftovers the next day or I freeze portions for another time. That’s why you don’t see seven main dishes cooked in one week. There is always something to eat in the freezer. And lots of frozen cookies too. I have seen many reports about eggs, explaining that they contain cholesterol but do not raise serum cholesterol the way trans fats and saturated fats do. I regularly eat eggs for their high quality protein and multiple health benefits.
Jenny, I can’t wait for your next post! You’re an inspiration!!
You look fantastic Jenny! I look forward to learning more from you! I hope you use brand names and are specific with your recommendations- l realize we are all a bit different but obviously what you do is making a big impact on your life – l just turned 69 and was feeling a bit depressed as l stare at 70 β¦ but your post today filled me with optimism- l do believe how we think – live – cook – move – can really make a difference- and you are living proof! πΈ best to you – Greg
