Christmas may be coming but it never feels like it here in southern California where it’s warm and sunny, π but not for long because we have a bunch of rain coming! βοΈ Of course I’m baking for Christmas, but it’s mostly sweets to give as gifts. My husband says, “It’s not fair! Chocolate-dipped macaroons are my favorite! Can I just have the scraps?” (He doesn’t know I saved some for him. π) Here’s what I cooked this week:
- Chocolate-dipped macaroons (gifts)
- Cabbage soup
- Vegetable stir fry with cashews
- Chewy oatmeal chocolate chunk cookies
- Beef stew
- Apple bread
- Granola bars (for us and gifts)
- Greek lemon chicken & potatoes with steamed Brussels sprouts & broccolini
- Caramel corn. Lots of caramel corn! (gifts – okay, I kept some for me! πΏπ)
- Salmon patties with roasted root vegetables
- Custard pudding
- Bran muffins
- Vegetable fried rice with spinach and bok choy
- Christmas sugar cookies
πI hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and that all your kitchen creations turn out.π

hi Jenny, every year I use your recipe and follow your video for the Christmas cookies and it is so easy and simple even I a non-baker can successfully create such a beautiful Christmas cookie display. This year I made the dough using gluten-free flour but I used regular butter and instead of vanilla flavoring. I used a vanilla bean paste. also, because I was low on pecans, I mixed pecans and walnuts together anyway in the midst of being busy it literally was about five days before I got back to the dough to finally bake the cookies, but when I open the plastic, the cookies had what seemed to me to be a pungent smell and Iβm just wondering if that is normal or did then letβs go rancid. I did not put eggs in it so I canβt imagine what else it would be unless it is a yeast smell, but I did use gluten-free flour. Can you help me?
I have made so many of your recipes! I didn’t realize you were still online with a blog and have missed so much since I first found you. I just want to say Thank you! for your humor and good taste of so many kinds!
